Taiwanin vanhin raitiovaunu / The oldest tram in Taiwan

Vaunu valmistui Valmetin tehtailta Tampereelta 14.04.1959. Se oli uutena ja nimikkovuorojärjestelmän loppuun asti linjan 6 vuorossa 53. Viimeiset aikansa se oli linjoilla 1, 1A ja 2. Vaunu hylättiin 23.05.2000.

The tram was completed at the Valmet factories in Tampere on 14 April 1959. As new and till the end of the standard tour system it was placed on tour 53 of route 6. It spent its final times on routes 1, 1A and 2. The tram was abandoned on 23 May 2000.

Vaunu osallistui Masa Yardsin Helsingin telakalla järjestettyyn "Kuvia hämärässä-maaginen yö telakalla" -tapahtumaan heinäkuussa. Kuvassa vaunu on vielä tukevasti maankamaralla allastelakan lattialla. Ohjelmassa sitä liidätettiin tässä Suomen suurimmassa rakennuksessa nosturilla veden päällä.

In July the tram took part in an event called "Pictures in the Dark - a Magic Night at the Docks" at Masa Yards Helsinki dockyard. In the photo the tram is still steadily on the ground on the floor of the basin hall. In the programme it was flown over the water in this Finland's largest building using a crane.

Vaunu 23 "Taiwanin Spårakoff" Lasten Liikennemuseossa. Kuvattu 12.1.2001

Suomen Matkailun Edistämiskeskuksen Taipein agenttitoimisto järjesti Taipei Expo -näyttelyyn marras-joulukuun vaihteessa vuonna 2000 yhdeksän päivän ajaksi Suomen matkailuosaston. Jotta kiinalaiset messukävijät saisivat todentuntua Suomesta ja Helsingistä, ei hankittukaan paikalle joulupukkia ja poroa eikä edes muumia, vaan helsinkiläinen raitiovaunu.
23.05.2000 hylätty HKL 23, joka viimeksi kesällä 2000 esiintyi yleisölle Hietalahden telakan allashallissa pidetyssä tapahtumassa, lähti 5.10. pitkälle merimatkalle Helsingistä Hollannin kautta Taipeihin. Siellä vaunu maalattiin Spårakoffin väriseksi ja siihen asennettiin sisälle tietokonesimulaattorit, joista näkyy "Virtual Finland". Näin ratikkaan menijöistä tuntuisi siltä kuin he olisivat ajelumatkalla Helsingissä. Sisustukseen kuuluivat myös pöydät, penkit ja baaritiski. Muutokset vaunuun tehtiin Taipeissa.

The Taipei Agency of the Finnish Tourist Board set up a Finnish travel stand to the Taipei Expo exhibition for nine days in late November - early December 2000. In order to give the Chinese exhibition guests a real touch of Finland, no Santa Claus or reindeer or even a Mumin-troll was arranged on the spot, but instead a tram from Helsinki. HKL 23 that had been abandoned on 23 May 2000 and that last in summer 2000 performed to the audience at an event held at the Hietalahti dockyard basin hall got off to a long sea voyage from Helsinki through the Netherlands to Taipei. There it was painted with Spårakoff colours and computer simulators showing "Virtual Finland" were installed to its inside. So the people visiting the tram would feel like they were having a tram ride in Helsinki. The decoration also included tables, stools and a bar. The changes to the tram were made in Taipei.

Vaunu oli menestyksekkäästi esillä marras-joulukuun vaihteessa 2000 Taipei Expossa.Vaunu esiintyi "Spårakoffina" punaiseksi maalattuna ja Koffin tarroilla varustettuna, vaunun sisällä esiteltiin "Virtual Helsinkiä".Taiwanin presidentti Chen Shui-Bian ja Taipein pormestari Ma Ying-Jiu kävivät myös tutustumassa tähän eksoottiseen Valmet-vaunuun.
The tram was successfully displayed during late November - early December 2000 at the Taipei Expo. The tram performed as "Spårakoff", red-painted and equipped with Koff stickers. Inside the tram "Virtual Helsinki" was presented. The president of Taiwan, Mr. Chen Shuy-Byian and the mayor of Taipei, Mr. Ma Ying-Yiu also came to acquaint themselves with this exotic Valmet tram.

Raitiovaunu sai paljon televisio-, radio- ja lehdistöjulkisuutta.
Näyttelyn jälkeen vaunu 23 jäi Taiwaniin. Taiwanissa ei ole tätä nykyä lainkaan raitioteitä, joten tämä Valmetin vaunu on maan ainoa raitiovaunu.
Nyt vaunu on lahjoitettu Lasten Liikennemuseoon, jossa se on kiinalaislasten ihmeteltävänä.
Taipein kaupunkiliikenteessä on käytössä tehokkaat kiskoliikennejärjestelmät.

The tram got a lot of TV, radio and press attention.
After the exhibition tram 23 remained in Taiwan. Nowadays there are no tramways at all in Taiwan, so this Valmet tram is the only tram in the country.
Now the tram has been donated to the Children's Traffic Museum where it stands for the Chinese children to marvel at.
